 Representation Analysis

Tide Ad:

    This ad makes me laugh everytime I view it. The mom in the ad doesn't like the clothing her daughter wears, and wishes that tide was less effective, so she could throw it out. The end text goes well with the add as it states "Style is an option.  Clean is not.” reinforcing the idea that fashion is subjective but the idea of cleanliness isn't. It doesn't matter what's being worn, what matters is the cleanliness of the clothing, making sure you look as good as you can in the clothing you have.

H&M Ad:

    The ad presented here is one of great intent and execution. Showing people from all walks of life, different shapes and sizes all with one thing in common but also different. The goal of the ad is to express that fashion isn't just one thing or just one outfit, it's diverse to everyone and equally enjoyed by everyone. The clothing shown and one of the main details of the ad is to show the way the company uses clothing, recycled clothing brandished and made into something better, getting away from throwing out things and saving water in the process. Overall this add does a fantastic job at getting their point across and equally great with the representation shown.
